Alton D. Hochstetler of Argos peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Culver following an extended illness. Alton was born in Bremen on January 3, 1943 to Merland and Rose (Crothers) Hochstetler. Alton grew up on the family farm and graduated from Bremen High School in 1960. Following graduation, Alton enlisted in the reserves where he continued to serve for fifteen years. He and Thelma Gibson were united in marriage on October 4, 1983.
Alton was an electrician by trade, formerly working for the towns of Bremen and Argos. He also was self-employed and recently worked as a security guard at Jelly Stone Park and Campground in Plymouth. Alton was hard working and a loyal to family and friends.
Alton is survived by his wife Thelma of Argos, sisters Donnell (Rick) Housel of Huntertown, Cindy (Jack) Garner of LaPaz, brother Danny (Patty) Hochstetler of Goshen, daughter Debbie Stratton, and son Michael Hochstetler of Bremen, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sons, Andy and Tim Hochstetler.
Visitation will take place at Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 State Road 331, Bremen, IN on March 4 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. with the funeral following.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family towards any expenses.
