Barbara A. Laidig

March 12, 1943 — November 18, 2023

Barbara Ann (Manges) Laidig, 80, of Bremen, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2023 at her home surrounded by her beloved family after a short fight with cancer.  Barbara loved Jesus and was passionate about sharing her faith with others through her many years of teaching Sunday School, being an Awana leader and middle school youth leader at Community Gospel Church.  She was a faithful attender of Nappanee Missionary Church and was actively involved in small church and women’s Bible study.  She was a prayer warrior for her family and friends for many years.  She was a dedicated farmer’s wife and excellent homemaker.  She had a large garden and loved to can, freeze and cook for her family and friends.  She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren deeply and supported them in all of their endeavors.  She and her husband, Jim, enjoyed vacationing with their family and provided them with many memory making opportunities.  She was competitive and loved a good game of croquet, many different card games, Scrabble and others.  She was beloved by all those that knew her and will be deeply missed. Barbara is survived by her children Donna (Pete) Goetzmann of Gardner, KS, Tim (Lisa) Laidig of Bremen, IN, Melissa Laidig of Wakarusa, IN and Wendy (Jim) Walmsley of Avilla, IN.  She is also survived by 13 grandchildren including Ryan Goetzmann, Brett (Kendahl) Goetzmann, Jenna Goetzmann, Tyler Goetzmann, Brandon (Charissa) Laidig, Brenna (Sam) Daggy, Emily (Michael) Butler, Trenton Laidig, Jacob (Heather) Phelps, Justin (Hannah) Phelps, Micah Phelps, Tate Walmsley, and Bree Walmsley.  Also surviving are 3 great grandchildren Hayes Daggy, Benjamin Laidig and Myles Phelps. She is also survived by her sister Diane (Rick) Unsicker and her sister-in-law Renee Manges. She was preceded in death by her husband James Laidig, her parents Eldon and Betty Manges and her brother Michael Manges. Visitation will be held from 3:00-8:00 pm, Tuesday, November 21, 2023 in Nappanee Missionary Church, 70417 St Rd 19, Nappanee.  A Celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 22, 2023 in Nappanee Missionary Church with memorial visitation one hour prior.  A private family burial will take place in Bremen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions to be made to Cultivate Food Rescue at www.cultivatefoodrescue.com, Transformation Ministries at www.transformation58.com or Nappanee Missionary Church.
