Betty Thornton

Betty L. Thornton, 95, of Bremen, passed away peacefully at 4:45 am, Friday, March 5, 2021 in her home. She was born on March 26, 1925 in Deer Lodge, MT to the late Joseph and Georgiana (Hartman) Miller. On March 25, 1944, she married Mark D. Thornton. He passed away on August 15, 2013. Betty was a 1943 graduate of Adams High School. She moved from South Bend to Bremen in 1944, where she became a homemaker and was the cook at the Community Hospital of Bremen. She is survived by four children; Darrell (Nanci) Thornton of Plymouth, Dale Thornton of Mishawaka, Danny (Ruth) Thornton of Bremen and Jill (Jeannie Polakovic) Holmes of Winamac. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Judyne Osborn, a great grandson, sister, Georgia Johnson and three brothers, Harry, Joe and Art. Per her wishes, cremation will take place. Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen is assisting with arrangements.
