Bonnie L. Mayer

August 23, 1950 — October 21, 2022

Bonnie Lee Mayer, age 72, passed away peacefully at home on October 21, 2022 surrounded by family. She was born August 23, 1950 in Milwaukee, WI to Clifford and Marion (Nick) Brooks. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Clifford and Janice (Schilifske) Brooks; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara (Brooks) and Steve Copas; sister, Brenda Brooks; son and daughter- in- law, Travis and Alison (Huffman) Mayer; and granddaughter, Adrianna Mayer. Bonnie was the first employee that was hired for the Mishawaka Lowes location when it first opened. She worked as a receiving manager till she retired in 2015. She took pride in her job and enjoyed working with and teaching the younger employees. Bonnie was a huge Green Bay Packers fan. She never missed a game and always had something to say about it. Go Pack Go!! Despite all the Packers love, she managed to raise herself a Chicago Bears fan which was the catalyst for a good-natured family rivalry complete with trash talking. Bonnie was a brilliant artist who loved drawing, writing, scrapbooking, and crocheting. She wrote and illustrated a book for her son when he was little and made many many scarves, hats, and blankets. She passed her love of art on to her granddaughter. Bonnie was loving and caring and feisty and fiercely independent. She will be missed by all who knew her. The family will be having a private celebration of life at a later date
