Bruce Hardy, Jr

June 9, 1953 — January 21, 2019

Bruce Allen Hardy Jr., age 65 of Bremen, passed away unexpectedly at Memorial Hospital in South Bend on Monday, January 21, 2019. Bruce was born June 9, 1953 in Bremen, Indiana to Bruce A. and Sheila (McGriff) Hardy Sr. On January 25, 1975, Bruce married the love of his life, Janice Dodaro in Berwyn, Illinois. Surviving is his wife Janice Hardy of Bremen and their daughter Tiffany (Douglas) Hardy-Prendergast of Plymouth. Also surviving is his mother Sheila Hardy and her significant other Don Dutoi of Bremen whom Bruce considered a “second father.” Surviving as well are his sisters Karen Troxel of Phoenix, Arizona and Marcia (Joe) Hunter of South Bend, and a “special” little girl who Bruce so fondly considered a granddaughter, Haivyn, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bruce was greeted at the gates of Heaven by his father Bruce Sr., his son Jason Hardy, a nephew Derek, and his faithful dog, Sunny. There will be 2 hours of visitation prior to the 7:00pm Celebration of Life service on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen. Bruce was employed in final finish at Universal Bearings for over 17 years. He was known there as a hard worker and was well liked by all his co-workers, young and old. In his spare time, Bruce enjoyed travelling to the Caribbean with his family, riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, mushroom hunting, walking his loyal dogs Bella and Jinxie, and entertaining his family and friends at his home with his mastery of Barbecued meats. Bruce and his daughter had a special bond. They enjoyed spending time together while traveling, hosting parties, and attending concerts. Most of all, Bruce will be remembered as a family man who put the needs of his family first. His mischievous grin and the ability to tell a joke to light up a room will be greatly missed by the many friends and family who love him dearly. Memorial donations may be made to the Marshall County Humane Society, 11165 13th Rd, Plymouth, IN 46563.
