Carl E. Grebe, 76, of Bremen, passed peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 26, 2021. He was born in Bremen on August 6, 1945, the son of Arthur C. Grebe, Jr. and Lucille H. (Balsley) Grebe. Carl graduated from Bremen High School with the Class of ’63 and volunteered to serve his country with the US Army in Vietnam from 1965 to 1968. He attained Sgt E-5, was a member of The Green Berets and was also an Airborne training instructor for all branches of the U.S. Military. Carl and Jolene (Hochstetler) Grebe were married in Bremen on November 11, 1978, in Salem Church (now Bremen United Methodist Church). Carl was employed at Rader Equipment, later founded Grebe Enterprises, sold that venture and then retired from Almega Truflex as President of Sales. He had a lifelong love of music. He played the trumpet with the Bremen High School band, the big band style 'Sentimental Journey', The Brass Quintet and also played Taps at Veterans funerals & military events. He served as the Bell Choir and Choir Director at Salem Church and Choir Director at The Country Church in Bourbon. Carl was a member of the VFW Post #8972 in Bremen. Always looking for adventure, he became an accomplished power paraglider pilot. He was preceded in death by his parents and also a brother, Wayne Grebe. In addition to Jolene, Carl is also survived by his daughter, Caralisa M. Staiger of Bremen; grandchildren, Justin C. (Makayla) Bogart of Indianapolis and Joshua M. Staiger of Fort Wayne; great-grandson, Neal Bogart of Indianapolis; brothers, Les (Jeannette) Grebe of Knoxville TN and Larry (Mary) Grebe of Bremen; sister-in-law, Trish Grebe of Sun City, Florida; father & mother-in-law, Maynard L. and Louise Hochstetler of Nappanee and brother-in-law, Kim (Carol) Hochstetler of Bremen. He was ‘Uncle Carl” to his many nieces & nephews. In addition to his nieces and nephews he was known as 'Uncle Carl' to many. A Celebration of Carl’s Life will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 with visitation from 1pm to 3pm and the Celebration of life at 3pm at The Country Church, 2951 9B Rd, Bourbon with Pastor Aaron Talbert officiating. The celebration will be live streamed through the following link,https://youtu.be/q5c-kJESJdY. Military Graveside services will be at the Bremen Cemetery immediately following. Arrangements are through Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 Indiana 331 in Bremen.
