Carolyn Jean Thomas, 68, of Lapaz, passed away at 4:16 am, Saturday, August 18, 2018 in her home surrounded by family. Jean was born on October 11, 1949 in Bremen, the daughter of Horace and Mary (Lillard) Lowe. On June 11, 1966, she married Larry Thomas. Jean is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Larry; son, Brad (Angie) Thomas of Argos; 17 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and one great grandchild. She is also survived by three sisters, Debbie Swihart of Warsaw, Donna Roberson of Bremen and Brenda (David) Hummel of Bremen. She is preceded in death by her parents, son, Jim Thomas and second mom, Sara Kiefer. Jean was a member of the Lapaz Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society. She was a cashier at the former Annis Grocery Store and also worked at Universal Bearings in Bremen and was a former ambulance driver for Union-North. Visitation will be held from 10:00-12:00 pm, Wednesday, August 22, 2018 in Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 St. Rd. 331, Bremen. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon in the funeral home. Rev. Timothy Lee will officiate and burial will follow in Bremen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial contributions to be made to the Lapaz Fire Department, 411 S. Michigan St., Lapaz, IN 46537 or Asera Care Hospice, 700 E. Beardsley Ave., Elkhart, IN 46514.
