Charles F. Heintzberger, 92, of Bremen, passed away at 12:15 am, Saturday, April 8, 2017 in Elkhart Hospice House. Charles was born on June 28, 1924, the son of the late Henry and Catherine Heintzberger. On February 16, 1946, he married Dorothy Gooley. She passed away on February 16, 2014. He is survived by four children; Thomas (Marcia) Heintzberger of Bremen, Patricia Wilson of Traverse City, MI, Michael Heintzberger of Bremen and John (Marilee) Heintzberger of Elkhart; eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Charlie proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army, where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge and received a purple heart. He was honorably discharged in 1945. He was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church and Mishawaka VFW. He loved living in the house he built at the Lake of the Woods. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm, Tuesday, April 11, 2017 in Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 St. Rd. 331, Bremen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, April 12, 2017 in St. Dominic Catholic Church, 803 W. Bike St., Bremen, with one hour of visitation prior. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Lane, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
