Daniel R. Holmes

Daniel Richard Holmes, 60, of Bremen, passed away at dawn on Thursday, September 11th, 2025 after a brief but brave battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, or ALS. He entered Heaven fully restored and into the embrace of those who went before him.

Daniel was born on August 17th, 1965 in South Bend, Indiana to the late David Richard Holmes and Janice Kay (Lant) Holmes. He was a 1984 graduate of Bremen High School, where he played tennis and basketball. Beyond graduation, Daniel was drawn to the outdoors, often accompanying his father and his uncle on fishing trips, whenever the inspiration struck and wherever they might lead. Daniel cherished this time with both men and a wealth of friends, and most enjoyed journeying to Canada with “the boys.”

Daniel is survived by his mother, Janice, of Bremen; a daughter, Jessica Kristine Holmes of Cincinnati; two sisters, Jennifer Holmes and Jill (Ted) Snyder, both of Bremen; two nieces, Haley Kristine (Jimmy) Ford and Lily Kay Snyder; a nephew, Matthew Jordan Snyder; two great nephews, Koe Maverick Ford and Knox Bennett Ford; and a great niece, Dawsyn Willa Grace Ford.

Those who preceded him in death include his father, David Richard Holmes in 2022; his uncle, Robert E. Lant in 2015; and a sister Kara Anne Holmes in 1965, as well as longtime companion Beverly Little in April, 2025.

The Holmes family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Signature HealthCare of Bremen, as well as Hospice, for extending their kindness during Daniel’s illness.

Memorial Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm, Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2025 in Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 St Rd 331, Bremen.  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am, Thursday, September 25, 2025 in St. Dominic Catholic Church with one hour of visitation prior.  Rev. Daniel Neizer will celebrate.  Burial will follow in Bremen Cemetery.
