Roger Dean Mikel

Roger Dean Mikel, 80, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023 at his home. He was born on March 5, 1943 in Mishawaka to Willard and Mable (Culp) Mikel. On November 24, 1961, Roger married Caroline “Doll” Knoblock. She preceded him in death after almost 51 years of marriage on March 25, 2012.  Roger later married Thais Staub on March 7, 2017. She survives along with his children, Blaine (Chana) Mikel of Walkerton, Amy (Paul) Taylor of Old Hickory, TN, Trevor (Maria) Mikel of Bremen, Kori (Frankie) Merritt of Lebanon, TN and Allison (DJ) Pomeroy of Warsaw; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Bud Mikel of Bremen, Eleanor Strang of Nappanee and Dale (Marie) Mikel of Bremen. Roger is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Caroline “Doll” Mikel and his sisters Marietta Franklin and June Gall. He worked as a maintenance manager for Depuy until he retired in 2006. Roger served the town of Bremen on the planning commission for 40+ years. He loved storytelling, history, traveling, woodworking and his dogs. Roger never met a stranger and made everyone feel as if they had known him for years. We will miss him dearly but take joy in the fact that he was reunited with Doll. Per Roger’s wishes, cremation will take place. A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00-4:00 pm, Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 St Rd 331, Bremen.  A memorial service will follow at 4:00 pm in the funeral home. In lieu to flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions to be made to Meals on Wheels, 1305 W. Harrison St., Plymouth, IN 46563.
