Dennis C. Thornton

Dennis Clark Thornton, 83, of Bremen, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2024 in his home surrounded by family.  Dennis was born on April 29, 1941 in Bremen to the late Clark and Edith (Brown) Thornton.  On July 20, 1962, he married Rose “Cathy” Allen.  She passed away on September 22, 2018.  Dennis is survived by three daughters: Lee Ann (Steve) Walter, Lisa Flores and Lori (Chad) Barnaby all of Bremen; 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by four siblings: Roger (Marge) Thornton of Bluffton, IN, Sandra Cochran of Manhattan, IL, Shirley Clements of Pryor, OK and Larry (Rita) Thornton of Plymouth.  He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, son in law, Blas Flores and former son in law, Mark Bunn. Dennis loved his family dearly.  His second love was Aviation.  He earned his pilot’s license at the age of 25.  Above all, his love for Jesus was the most important love he had.  Five years and nine months ago, upon her passing, his greatest desire was to be reunited with his beloved wife.  They are now together. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm, Monday, June 17, 2024 at Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 St Rd 331, Bremen.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 18, 2024 in the funeral home with one hour of visitation prior.  Pastor Wyatt Smith will officiate.  Burial will follow in Bremen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial contributions to be made to the Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
