Donald Kaye Mortimer, 82, of Bremen, passed away at 1:37 pm, Wednesday, April 17, 2024 in Esther’s House-Center for Hospice Care of Elkhart.  Don was born on May 13, 1941 in Elkhart. He is survived by daughter Debbie Gordy of Tennessee, Stepson David Newman and stepdaughter Tracy Newman, Niece, Jo-Ann (David) Paulson of Elkhart, Nephews Jeffrey Mortimer of Euclid, OH, David (Kelly) Mortimer, Edwardsburg, Stanley ( Trish) Swaim of Wichita, Kansas and Kevin Swaim of Indianapolis, Indiana. MI & sister-in-law Brenda Mortimer of Edwardsburg, MI and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great nieces and nephews and his loving dog, Max. Don was proceeded in death by his parents Clarence and Thelma (Fetters) Mortimer, wife Marilyn (Schofield Newman) Mortimer, son Donald K. Gordy, Brothers Robert C and David P Mortimer and niece Denise Swaim.. Don had a love of music since a young age as well as him being in the band The Palisades (During the 1960's). They recorded a few songs that could be heard on radio station WLS of Chicago. Don once owned the Brauhaus, a bar/restaurant in Bremen, IN, worked as a union electrician in Florida for many years, even owning his own electrical contracting firm for several years. Don enjoyed golf, lake life, boating, water skiing, snow skiing ad traveling. Per Don's wishes cremation has taken place and A Celebration of Don's life will be held Saturday June 15, 2024 at Edwardsburg Conservation Club 26524 Pine Lake St, Edwardsburg, MI 49112 from 2-4 p.m. with a Moments of Memory at 2:30. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Don's name to Pet Refuge 4626 South Burnett Dr. South Bend, IN 46614.
