Donald E. Schneider

Donald Eugene Schneider, 89, of Bremen passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2024 in his home.  Don was born on July 14, 1934 in Bremen, the son of the late Elmer “Pete” and Hattie (Stuntz) Schneider.  On January 18, 1959 at Riverside Church, he married the former Mary Ellen Newcomer. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ellen; four children: Sherri (Apolinar) Sanchez of Leesburg, Suzane Akers of Bremen, Kelly (Kimberly) Schneider of Bremen and Steven (Mindi) Schneider of Lewis Center, OH; seven grandchildren: Sarah (Matthew) Pedersen, Jill Schneider, David Schneider, Kellen Schneider, Kasey (Christina) Schneider, Mathew (Amy Kingery) Schneider and Kelsi Akers and two great grandchildren: Keenan Akers and Amara Schneider.  He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rosemary Jones. Don proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1957.  Don owned a barber shop in Bremen. He opened up his barber shop in Bremen in 1961 after beginning his career in 1958.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bremen and the Bremen Historical Society. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm, Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 St Rd 331, Bremen.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, March 14, 2024 in First Baptist Church, 404 E. Lincoln St., Bremen, IN 46506.  Burial will follow in the Bremen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to the Bremen Historical Society, P.O. Box  471 Bremen, IN 46506.
