Doris E. Cripe

February 24, 1932 — February 19, 2023

The family of Doris E. Cripe has shared that she was perfected through Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior,
on February 19, 2023, just five days short of her 91 st birthday.  She passed peacefully with her family,
after a stay at Waters of Wakarusa Nursing Home.
Dorie was famous with her family and friends for teasing about her real age.  Finally, after 90 wonderful
years, she proudly accepted her achievement.  She was born to Clayton and Fern Clindaniel in Bremen,
IN on February 24, 1932.  Her homecoming is being celebrated with her heavenly family; her husband of
72 years, Neil Cripe (2016), her oldest daughter, Karen Collins (2017), her youngest daughter, Patricia
Lineberry (2020), and her brother, Jim Clindaniel (2015).  She is survived by her daughter, Kay Kelley
(Chuck Sponhauer) of Syracuse and her son, Scott Cripe (Jody) of Bremen.  She was a loving and devoted
grandma to six grandchildren; Molly Collins (John) of Orlando, Clay Collins of Orlando, Grady Randall
(Katie) of Grand Rapids, MI, Connor Randall (Christina) of Salida CO., Olivia Baumann (Mitchell) of
Bremen, and Nathan Cripe of Culver. She is also survived by son-in-law, Brent Lineberry of Bremen and
sister-in-law, Aileen Clindaniel of Bremen.
Dorie’s last seven years were filled with many blessings, as she became a great grandma eight times.
She loved seeing her great grands, Layla and Gage Collins, Greer, Sloane and Mack Randall, Ava and Mia
Randall, and baby Carter Baumann.
Neil and Dorie loved raising their family in Bremen, the town they both resided their entire lives.  Dorie
helped countless young children learn to read as a para at Bremen Elementary, alongside her dear friend
Faye Dumph.  She grew up attending Salem Church, and often sang in a trio with Kay Rans and Alta
Molebash.  Later, she and Neil attended First United Church in Bremen.  Dorie served on women’s
committees and sang in the choir.  She had a servant’s heart, knitting blankets for elderly, baking pies
for the grieving, and always sending cards to cheer family and friends.  Her church family has
surrounded her with love and prayers over the years.  She was also a member of Tri Kappa in Bremen.
Dorie’s constant was her faith and love of family.  Sunday family dinners, birthday and holiday
gatherings were her source of joy.  She wasn’t happy unless all of the food was eaten and everyone had
their favorite dessert.  She happily became the back-up Grandma sitter for all of her grandkids, even the
grand dogs!  Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren have been blessed by her daily
prayers of praise, protection, health, and happiness.  She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
