Edith Marie Smith

Edith Marie Smith, 97, of Bremen, passed away at 5:30 am, Saturday, February 25, 2023 in Signature Health Care of Bremen. Edith was born on May 27, 1925 to Ewell and Pearl (Brown) Burgess. She married Walter Roger Smith on February 1, 1947 and he preceded her in death on May 24, 1994. She is survived by two daughters; Judy Kreft of Bremen and Janet (Robert) Brandon of Beaumont, CA; grandchildren, Dana (Jennifer) Kreft of Warsaw, Deanne (Elbert) Pender of Wilson, NC and Jennifer Stouder Hanlon of Banning, CA; great grandson, Kyle Walston of Wilson, NC and brother, William Burgess of Royal Oak, MI. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law, Robert Kreft and great grandson, Ryan Kreft, as well as, brothers, Willard and Paul Burgess and sister, Lucille Harper. Mrs. Smith has been a member of the Bremen Missionary Church since 1949. She did genealogy for 25 years, wrote poems and sent many cards to family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, March 1, 2023 in Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 St Rd 331, Bremen with one hour of visitation prior. Pastor Gary Hinkle will officiate and burial will follow in the Bremen Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bremen Missionary Church, 2958 Elm Rd., Bremen, IN 46506.
