Eugene F. Perrot, 89, born on a cold winter night on December 20, 1936, on the family farm, ½ mile from Bremen to two wonderful parents, Fred and Opal Perrot, passed away at 9:48 am, Tuesday, February 3, 2026 in his home.
Gene grew up on the farm, following in his father’s footsteps, learning the skills of farming from father to son. Eugene graduated from Bremen High School in 1954, where he was active in the community. Gene loved the land and as a young man he enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping. Known locally as the “Gentleman Farmer”, he was a ten-year member of 4-H and past president of the local FFA. He served on the Salem United Methodist Church Board, Zoning Board, Marshall County Farm Board, Culver State Bank Board (9 years) and Bremen School Board (8 years). He was also a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge. He continued farming with the help of his wife until his retirement in 1995 after 43 years. The family farm is now the home of Bremen Community Hospital. They moved to Sebring, FL for eight years before returning to Nappanee in 2015.
On August 31, 1956, he married his high school sweetheart, Sue O’Connor in the Lutheran Church. Together they have two amazing daughters, Kim (Jeff) Swank and Kathryn Allen; grandchildren, Tori (Chris) Prendergast and Sky Allen and great grandchildren, Ryan and Callan. He is also survived by a wonderful companion, Marlene Hueni.
Visitation will be from 10:00-12:00 pm, Friday, February 6, 2026 in Nappanee Missionary Church, 70417 St. Rd. 19, Nappanee, IN 46550. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 noon in the church. Rev. Jason Rohde will officiate. Private burial will take place in Bremen Cemetery, where he will be laid rest next to his wife.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to Community Hospital of Bremen, 1020 High Rd, Bremen, IN 46506.
The family would like to send out a special thank you to the staff at Traditions Health Hospice Care, Unity Physicians Hospital and to Dr. Khan and Dr. Gettinger for their loving care.
