Floyd R. Nifong

Floyd Rex Nifong, 95, of Plymouth, passed away at 8:58 pm, Sunday, May 14, 2023 in his home surrounded by family. Floyd was born on March 10, 1928 to the late Walter O. and Lavon (Eagleberger) Nifong. On September 7, 1952, he married Ruth Schaetzle. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Ruth; five children, Connie Sue Dodson of Warsaw, John (Carol) Wagoner of North Webster, Lou Ann (Jim) Doll of Plymouth, Mark (Lisa) Nifong of Claypool and David Nifong of Plymouth; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Lorna Cooksey of LaPorte. Floyd was a member of the former Mt. Pleasant Church of the Brethren, where he served as Deacon. He was a member of the Bourbon Lion’s Club. Floyd enjoyed collecting toys, especially toy tractors and toy trains. He was into birdwatching, woodworking, ceramics, restoring antique tractors and attending tractor shows. He loved his winters in Florida and traveling and camping. Visitation will be held from 10:00-12:00 pm, Friday, May 19, 2023 in the former Mt. Pleasant Church of the Brethren (currently Shalom Fellowship), 5699 10 ^th Rd, Bourbon, IN 46504. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 pm (noon) in the church. Pastor Evan Garber will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to Bremen Church of the Brethren, 921 Woodies Lane, Bremen, IN 46506.
