Gearldine “Geri” Wright passed away on August 18, 2024 at her home in Bremen, Indiana. She was 85 years old. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, she is profoundly missed. Gearldine was born on January 11, 1939 to Hiram and Kansa Noble in their home outside of Jackson, Kentucky. She was the second of ten children, and as the oldest daughter, held a position of great responsibility in her family. Growing up in the rugged hills of Kentucky, she played a central role in helping to raise her younger siblings. From an early age, she learned the value of hard work, sacrifice, and care, stepping in as a second mother to her brothers and sisters. The skills and resilience she developed during those formative years stayed with her throughout her life, guiding the way she cared for her own children and grandchildren years later. On July 21, 1955, she married Virgil Wright in Jackson, Kentucky. Soon after, they left Kentucky in search of work, and after a brief time in Chicago, settled in Bremen, Indiana. They remained married for 65 years, and they loved one another deeply until the day of Virgil’s passing in August 2020. An active member at Bremen Missionary Church, Gearldine’s faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of her life and the guiding force behind her actions. Her belief shaped her into a woman of generosity and boundless hospitality, always ready to lend a hand, offer a comforting word, or share a meal with those in need. Her home was a reflection of her heart – a place of warmth, welcome, and love. She was never happier than when her house was filled with the laughter of family and friends, all gathered around a table brimming with the delicious meals she had lovingly prepared. She had two great passions in her life: first, she was a talented gardener and loved spending time with her flowers. Each season brought new blooms, from the first daffodils of spring to the rich hues of summer roses. The variety of flowers she carefully tended made her home a true beacon of joy in the neighborhood, and they were a testament to her ability to create beauty in the world around her. Second, she took great pleasure in her role as a nurturer, pouring love into her relationships with her siblings, her children, her nieces and nephews, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. For many years, she was the trusted caregiver for her grandchildren – the only babysitter they ever knew. They spent the days of summer vacation together at her home, where she created a haven of warmth and fun. Those days were filled with memories that shaped their childhoods, leaving a lasting imprint of her love and care on their lives. Gearldine is survived by daughters Pam (Brad) Erickson and Kim (Ken) Shores; siblings Al (Arlene) Noble, Ed Noble, J.R. Noble, Vivian Miller, and Virgil (Georgeann) Noble; grandchildren Brandon (Anna) Board, Hali (Josh) Greenlee, Zach Dumph, Rebecca (Max) Baker, Loribeth (Chris) Grunder, and Erica Froelich; and great-grandchildren Aiden Greenlee, Jackson Greenlee, James Baker, Bodie Baker, Isla Baker, Kennedy Dumph, Sophia Board, Kayla Villegas, Olivia Froelich, Angel Rolfe, and Christian Grunder. She was preceded in death by her parents Hiram and Kansa Noble; husband Virgil Wright; daughter and son-in-law Patty and Keith Board; and siblings Winnie Noble, Clay Noble, Arlie Noble, and Glenna Smith. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to all the friends and family who cared for Geri over the years. Whether it was providing rides to church, stopping by for a game and a chat, or helping search for her runaway cat, your acts of kindness did not go unnoticed. Each gesture, big or small, was a sign of the love she inspired in those around her. We are deeply grateful for the support and companionship you offered her. A visitation service will take place at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 23, 2024 at Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen, Indiana, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Bremen Missionary Church, 2958 Elm Rd, Bremen, IN 46506.
