Gerald “Jerry” R. Guard, 90, longtime area resident of Bremen, also of Dallas, TX and Chiefland, FL passed away at 4:45 pm, Thursday, January 18, 2018 in Miller’s Merry Manor of Walkerton. Jerry was born on April 5, 1927 in Bremen, the son of Rufus S. and Bertha A. (Woodcox) Guard. He was married to Lois A. Graverson on September 9, 1945 and she preceded him in death on July 26, 1995. Survivors include two sons; Michael Guard of Plymouth and Dennis Guard of Dallas, TX; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are five siblings; Doris Wolf of Port Clinton, OH, Patricia (John) Musser of Chiefland, FL., Paul (Marlene) Guard of Bremen, Marilyn McFadden of South Bend, and Larry (Carolyn) Guard of Waynesville, NC. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife and two brothers, Edward and Devon Guard. Jerry was a carpenter by trade and belonged to the South Bend Carpenters Union. He was a member of the Bremen Masonic Lodge 414, where he served as Past Master. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, January 25, 2018 in Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 St Rd. 331, Bremen, with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will take place in Bremen Cemetery.
