Jack Duane Hartzog, son of Naaman Hartzog and Vivian Wilson, passed away in northern Indiana on November 12, 2024, just two days short of his 90th birthday. Jack was born in Lima, Ohio in 1934, grew up in Lima, and graduated from Lima South High School in 1952. Shortly after graduation, Jack joined the Marine Corps and served as a tank driver until his discharge as a Staff Sargent several years later. After, relocating to Virginia Beach, Virginia, Jack worked in sales at several high end furniture stores including Oakdale Furniture. It was while working here Jack met and married Navy Lieutenant Commander Paula Yont. Married for 48 years, together they moved to numerous Navy locations, i.e., Corpus Christi, TX, San Diego, CA, Norfolk, VA, Philadelphia , PA, Piscataway, NJ and ultimately Pensacola FL where he and Paula lived for nearly 30 years. During that time, Jack became the proud owner and operator of the very successful Jack’s Big and Tall Men’s Shop in Pensacola, now known as Lil John’s Big and Tall. Several years ago, Jack and Paula relocated to Bremen, Indiana to be near family. Jack is survived by his wife Paula and his wonderful children Gerald Hartzog of Toledo, OH, Sheila (John) Morris of Vidor, TX, John (Kelly) Hartzog of Lima, OH, Julie (Gary) Noya of Brodnax, VA, and Tracey (Andy) Carr of Bremen, IN. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as a special niece Marjean (David) Warren of Delphos, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Eugene, Naaman Jr., and Richard Hartzog, as well as sister Louise Coil. Jack was a devout Catholic, currently a member of Saint Dominic Catholic Church in Bremen, Indiana. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be offered by beloved priest and friend, Fr. Daniel Niezer on Monday, November 18 at 11:00 am at St Dominic’s, 803 W. Bike St., Bremen. Close family and friends will be received in the chapel from 10:00 to 11:00 am, prior to Mass and a lunch served at St. Isadore Hall afterward. Jack will return home to Pensacola, FL where a viewing for friends and family will be held at Faith Chapel on Beverly Parkway at a date and time to be determined. He will be laid to rest at Barrancas National Cemetery on Pensacola Naval Air Station.
