Janet Koontz

Janet L Koontz, 86, passed away January 28, 2022. She was born on February 16, 1935 in Bremen Indiana, the daughter of Rolland E. and Juanita V. (Hepler) Koontz. Janet graduated from Bremen Public Schools and went on to attend college, graduating from Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana. After graduation she joined the service and was stationed on Midway Island, where she taught school. Upon returning, she taught in Dearborn, Michigan and Richmond, Virginia, which is where she met Nancy. From there they went on to Rutgers University and retired from Rutgers. After retirement, they moved to New Bern North Carolina and then settled at the River Landing Retirement Community in Colfax, North Carolina. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by lifelong companion Nancy Mitchell. Survivors include brothers, Gary (Kathleen) Koontz of Bremen, Indiana and Kent (Carolyn) Koontz of Bremen, Indiana; along with 8 nieces and nephews.
