Jeanette E. Mattern

Jeanette (Jan) Mattern, 85, of Bremen, died peacefully at the We Belong Senior Home in
Plymouth, Indiana, on April 30, 2024.  She was born July 10, 1938 in Michigan to John and
Willa Bell (Campbell) Skees, Sr., but later, her parents moved to Atwood, Indiana, where Jan
grew up. She was employed for many years at United Telephone in Warsaw, and that is where
she met her future husband, Carl Mattern, who proceeded her in death in 1993. Jan became a
stay-at-home Mom when their beloved daughter, Melissa, was born. Jeanette is survived by her
daughter, many nieces and nephews and her dear friend, Bo Glover.  She is preceded in death
by her parents and two siblings, John Skees, Jr and Beverly Shaw. There will be a graveside
service at 2:00 pm, Monday May 6, 2024 at the Bremen Cemetery. Jan loved animals and
donations can be made in her name to the Marshall County Humane Society, P.O. Box 22,
Plymouth, IN 46563.
