Joyce Leeper

May 30, 1939 — June 22, 2022

Joyce E Leeper, formerly of rural Plymouth, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on the first day of summer, 2022 at Miller’s Merry Manor of Wakarusa. Joyce was born on May 30, 1939 to Bernard and Esther (Balmer) Geik. She grew up in the Bremen area, and attended school at Bremen Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1957. She met the love of her life, Lewis Leeper and they were married at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bremen on May 8, 1959. Faith in Jesus was the core of Joyce’s existence. She was baptized on Nov. 14, 1948 by Pastor Eggers and confirmed her baptismal vows on March 29, 1953 with Pastor Schmitt. Joyce was a faithful servant of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church serving in many capacities. She was a former member of the School Board for many years, helping teachers in the Day School grading papers and assisting students. She also served as an active member of the Board of Church Properties as long as her health would allow, heading up various painting and cleaning committees. Joyce occupied her days by being a spotless housekeeper. She maintained beautiful flower beds and loved to read. But her true passion was being a wife, mother and grandmother. Her twin granddaughters Sarah and Anna Leeper, and her grandson Sev Leeper Sycamore were her true delights. She spent many days entertaining them and enjoying whatever activities they were involved in as they grew up. Those left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 63 years Lewie. Also, her children Jill Leeper Sycamore of Indianapolis and Chris (Karmen) Leeper of Bremen and her well-loved grandchildren Sarah Leeper, Anna Leeper, both of Bremen and Sev Leeper Sycamore of Indianapolis. She also has a cherished sister and brother-in-law Jeannette and Les Grebe and their children’s families of Knoxville, TN. Joyce also leaves behind other nieces, nephews and dear friends. We all look forward to the day we will be reunited in heaven. She was preceded in death by her parents Bernard Geik and Esther (Balmer) Young, her step-father Bernard Young, her in-laws Russell and Violet Leeper, and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Herbert and Helen Leeper. Also, her nephew and godson Michael Grebe. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 605 S. Center Street, Bremen, IN on Saturday, June 25 at 11:00 a.m., with viewing two hours prior in the church. Joyce will be laid to rest in the Bremen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or the Center for Hospice Care.
