Larry Verhaeghe

A love for Farmall and Case IH, a master fixer of all things, fiercely protective of his family, and always enjoyed a good laugh…Larry K. Verhaeghe, 74, of Bremen, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2026. He was a kind and gentle man that was steady in his ways and the kind of person you could always count on. He will be deeply missed for his moments of being quietly present in the lives of his children and grandchildren, but we rest in the knowledge that he is in heaven with God and his loving wife, Lori.

Larry was born on September 8, 1952, to Hank and Bertha Verhaeghe and was a lifetime resident of Madison Township in St. Joseph County. He graduated from Bremen High School and volunteered to serve in the Army Reserves. He was a long-time maintenance worker at Newmar Industries and also farmed his whole life.

Larry is survived by his three children Ben Verhaeghe and Jen, Dustin Verhaeghe and Shannon, and Meghan Strang and John. He and Lori had eight grandchildren: Macey, Jersey, and Grayson Verhaeghe; Ethan, Brooklyn, and Owen Verhaeghe; and Madison Clevenger (Danny) and Justin Strang. He has two living brothers, Michael (Lynn) and Richard Verhaeghe, Kristi Harris and Amy (Brian) Lechlitner, and his mother-in-law Carol Boyer. He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Lori Lynn Verhaeghe, as well as his brother Leon (Linda) Verhaeghe and brother-in-law Paul Harris.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm, Thursday, October 22, 2026 in Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, October 23, 2026 in Trinity Church, 61770 Miami Rd., South Bend, IN 46614, with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will follow in Bremen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to Trinity Church.
