Lawrence Butler

October 17, 1918 — March 2, 2024

Lawrence William “Bill” Butler, 105, of Wakarusa, passed away peacefully at 8:55 am, Saturday, March 2, 2024 in The Waters of Wakarusa.  Bill was born on October 17, 1918 in Grand Rapids, MI to L.T. and Myrtle (Sherwood) Butler.  He is survived by two daughters: Katha (Mike) Machalleck of Vandalia, MI and Jill (Roger) Jirikovic of Davison, MI; three grandchildren: Brian (Kris) Machalleck, Lori (Jason) Noyer and Kristi Jirikovic; and three great grandchildren: Addison, Brynn and John as well as many nieces and nephews left to cherish his memory. He joined the Army in 1941-1945, serving in the 1st Armored Division.  During WWII, he saw action in North Africa and Italy as a tank platoon commander.  He was self employed for 30 years, owning The Tractor Mart in Niles, MI.  He loved his family and helping people.  His faith was very important to him. A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, June 8, 2024 in the 1st United Church of Christ, 323 S. Center St., Bremen, IN 46506.  Rev. Mark Roeda will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to the 1st United Church of Christ or Bayshore Gardens Community Church, 6228 26th St. W., Bradenton, FL 34207.
