Marcia Alice Corl, 88, of Syracuse, formerly of Bremen, passed away at 5:32 am, Sunday, April 7, 2024 in Majestic Care of Goshen. Marcia was born on November 7, 1935 in Bremen, to the late John and Inez (Flory) Edel. Marcia is survived by six children: Tim Corl of Syracuse, Tammy (John) Kratzer of Syracuse, Trudy (Dave) Pittman of Plymouth, Tracy Blind of Syracuse, Todd (Susan) Corl of Bremen and Tricia (Rob) Koontz of Munster; 12 grandchildren: Jaxon Swain of Louisville, KY, Jesse Swain of Syracuse, Jordan Swain of Syracuse, Jill Wagoner of Lakeville, Allison Verhaeghe of Walkerton, Uriah Pittman of Milwaukee, WI, Preston Pittman of Lakeville, Ruby Koontz of Munster, Brad Koontz of Munster, Marci Clingenpeel of Las Vegas, NV, Alec Corl of Bremen and Justin (Sarah) Corl of Billings, SD, as well as eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Vivian Walker of South Bend. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, Robert Verhaeghe and 13 Edel siblings. In 1955, Marcia married her Bremen High School sweetheart, Don Corl. They moved around in the early years chasing adventure and industry in places like Florida and Tennessee, but Marcia was always a Bremen girl at heart and begged Don to move back. Her dream of having six kids came true, who were the joy of her life. She was the “fun mom” that everyone wanted to be around and a gracious hostess. They travelled extensively with their family sport of Power Boat racing across the United States, but when it came her and Donnie, they chose the islands. She collected angels and also made angels and attended local craft shows with them. When moving to Lake Wawasee in 1988, they found their happy place where they could fish every day and kept their daily tally on the wall of their garage. Although she was a great “fisherwoman”, she refused to bait her own hook. The baby of 14 Edel kids, she was the first to admit she was spoiled rotten. Marcia loved her family with unconditional love and taught her family to do the same. Known as “Nanny” by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Marcia will leave a huge void in our hearts. Visitation will be held from 11:00-1:00 pm, Tuesday, April 16, 2024 in Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 St Rd 331, Bremen and funeral services begin at 1:00 pm. Burial will take place in Bremen Cemetery.
