Margaret Middaugh, age 91, passed away May 16, 2018 at her home in Lafayette, Indiana. Margaret was born March 23, 1927 in Elkhart, Indiana to the late George and Edith (Rogers) Zook. On February 12, 1949 she married Chester “Chet” Middaugh in Elkhart, Indiana. Chet preceded her in death, passing away on June 8, 1980. Surviving are her children Betty (James) Weldon of Lafayette, Indiana, Barbara (Wayne) Freed of Nappanee, Indiana, Paul (Kathy) Middaugh of West Lafayette, Indiana and Chet Junior (Barbara) Middaugh of Bremen, Indiana. Surviving as well are 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, with another great-great-grandchild arriving in August of 2018. She was preceded in death by a sister, a brother, 4 half-brothers and 2 half-sisters and her longtime companion Charles Mince. Visitation will be held from 3-7 pm Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen. Graveside services will be private on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Bremen Cemetery. Margaret was a homemaker for many years. Following Chet’s death, she was employed by Ristance Wire in Bremen. She kept busy helping others with home health care needs, and cleaned the Bremen Post Office for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, crossword and word search puzzles, coloring, doing embroidery and working outdoors in her flower garden. In lieu of flowers, donations in Margaret’s name may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
