Margaret E. Zeltwanger

Margaret Elizabeth Zeltwanger, 92, of Bremen, passed away peacefully at 10:03 am, Monday, August 21, 2023 in her home.  Margaret was born in Lombard, IL on October 17, 1930 in her parent’s home at the start of the great depression.  She graduated from Elgin High School in 1948 and married the love of her life, Earl Zeltwanger, on June 8, 1952.  They were married 65 years and lived their entire life in northern Indiana where they raised their seven children.  She was a homemaker most of her life as well as supporting her husband in his careers. Later in her life, she was an integral part of founding Wyatt Farm Center with Earl and worked as the bookkeeper. Marge served alongside her husband in the church in a variety of areas from the food committees, ladies’ groups, youth activities, starting the first VBS program for children and as a minister’s wife.  Her hospitality and wonderful meals will be remembered by many. Beside her family, her many interests included large flower gardens, reading, needlework and maintaining relationships with her siblings.  She loved to sing and play the piano, especially the great hymns.  She had a heart for Jesus Christ, praying and helping those who needed her. Her family has grown to 69 and counting and they are scattered in many places across the U.S.  She welcomed them often in her home for holidays and special occasions, always doing the cooking. She is survived by seven children: Kay (Dale) Gramm, Gayle (Mark) Bailin, Mark (Michele) Zeltwanger, Jane (Jim) Stoller, Joan (Dr. James D.) Gonzales, Lori Zeltwanger and Paul (Teresa) Zeltwanger; 19 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by six siblings, one sister-in-law and many nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Margaret Haas, husband, Earl Zeltwanger and two siblings. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Community Gospel Church, 68893 IN-331, Bremen.  Burial will follow in Bremen Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
