Marilyn J. Ralston

Marilyn J. Ralston, 95 of Bremen, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on April 12, 2021. Marilyn was born on August 26, 1925 in Crestline, OH. She graduated from Anderson High school in 1943 and graduated from Ball State University as a Registered Nurse in 1946. She married Calvin Ralston on February 22, 1947. She lived in the South Bend/Mishawaka area from 1947 to 1967 working as a registered nurse. In 1967 she moved with her family to Bremen and began a long career at the Bremen Community Hospital, finally retiring in 2004 after more than 50 years in nursing. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Bremen, Happy Hour Home Economics Club and Civil War Round Table. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Calvin Ralston of Bremen and her daughter-in-law Terry Ralston. She is survived by four children, William Ralston, Diane (Marvin) Houin, Debra (Rodney) McClain, MD and Sarah (Tom) Thomas; nine grandchildren, Charles (Betsy) Houin, Benjamin Houin, Mary Houin, Nicholas McClain, Karen Messer, Daniel McClain, Kathryn McClain, Michael Thomas, Abigail Thomas; and three great-grandchildren, Matthew Houin, Marcus Houin and Chase Messer. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, April 17, 2021 in First United Church of Christ, 323 S. Center St., Bremen with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will follow in Bremen Cemetery. The family would like to express thanks to Heartland Hospice for their compassionate care during Marilyn’s final days.
