Martha Burgess

Martha Sue Burgess, 93, of Bremen, passed away peacefully at 6:50 am, Saturday, October 7, 2017 in Miller’s Merry Manor of Plymouth. Martha was born on January 4, 1924, the daughter of the late Boyd and Bessie (Adams) Abernathy. On March 1, 1947, she married Timothy Burgess. He passed away on September 3, 2001. Martha is survived by three children; Beverly Kokozski of Palm Coast, FL, Robert (Brenda) Burgess of Plymouth and Linda (Gene) Piper of Plymouth; nine grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. She is also survived by six siblings; Jackie (Beverly) Abernathy of Little Rock, AR, Larry Abernathy of Arkansas, Evelyn Wright of Pine Bluff, AR, Edna Dean (Clarence) Nelms of Stuttgart, AR, Doris (Travis) Bonds of Morrilton, AR and Nina (Floyd) McDermott of Ohio. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, Billie and John, son-in-law, Edward Kokozski and siblings, Robert, Billy Wayne and Betty. Martha has been a Bremen area resident for most of her adult life. She worked for Ristance for many years before her retirement. She was a member of the Bremen Missionary Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Visitation will be held from 11:00-1:00 pm, Wednesday, October 11, 2017 in Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 St. Rd. 331, Bremen. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm, Wednesday in the funeral home.
