Martha "Marty" Balsley

Martha “Marty” M. Balsley, 74, of Bremen, passed away at 5:45 am, Wednesday, March 30, 2022 in her home surrounded by family. Marty was born on December 12, 1947 in Arthur, IL to the late Menno L. and Lydia (Schrock) Lee. On November 28, 1974 in Brooksville, MS, she married Jerry Balsley. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Jerry; son, Jason (Wanda) Balsley of Bremen; daughter Jennifer (Cory) McKenzie of Bremen; and five grandsons, Andrew, Mason, Branden, Tyler, and Austin; and one great grandson Cole. She is also survived by nine siblings, Katie (Karl) Leatherman of Wilmington, DE; Tillie Miller of Macon, MS; Gertie Beachy of Free Union, VA; Levi (Elmina) Lee of Macon, MS; Norman (Mary Etta) Lee of Goshen, IN; Albert (Wilma) Lee of West Point, MS; Edward (Teresa) Lee of Vernon, AL; Barbara Smith of Tampa, FL; and Lois (Floyd) Borntrager of Macon, MS; and mother-in-law Madene Balsley; sister-in-law Janice Lee of Hutchinson, KS; brother-in-law Dave (Ruth) Beachy of Arthur, IL. She is preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, Nelson Lee and Emma Beachy. Marty loved her poodles, as well as, camping, puzzles and reading. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 am, Saturday, April 2, 2022 in Bremen Church of the Brethren, 921 Woodies Lane, Bremen. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am in the church with Pastor Evan Garber officiating. Burial will take place in Bremen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to the Church of the Brethren, 921 Woodies Lane, Bremen, IN 46506.
