Mary "Cathie" Hemminger

Mary Cathaleen “Cathie” Hemminger, age 92, went to be with the Lord on April 26, 2017 at her home in Bremen. Cathie was born October 18, 1924 in Columbia City, Indiana to the late Lewis and Viola (Bechtold) Rouch. On June 29, 1947, she married Howell “Holly” Hemminger. She and Holly loved travelling and were fortunate enough to take many vacations and missions trips. Holly preceded her in death, passing away in May of 2009. Surviving are her children Marianne (Tobby) Hubbs of Bremen, Indiana, Kelley Leeper of Goshen, Indiana and Scott Hemminger of Bradenton, Florida.  Surviving as well is her brother Roger (Diane) Rouch of St. Cloud, Minnesota, 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Cathie was preceded in death by her infant son, Danny Hemminger. Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Monday, May 1, 2017 at the Bremen Church of the Brethren, 921 Woodies Lane, Bremen, Indiana. A private service will be held for the family. Mishler Funeral Home is entrusted with her arrangements. Cathie earned her Master’s Degree in education and taught for over 40 years with most of those being in Bremen from 1946 until her retirement in 1991. Cathie was a longtime member of the Bremen Church of the Brethren.  She had a great love for children and enjoyed making treats for the Bremen Church of the Brethren preschool and telling stories. In her memory, donations may be given to either the Bremen Church of the Brethren pre-school or the Church’s memorial fund.
