Matthew Unsicker

Matthew J. Unsicker, 37, of Ellerslie, GA, formerly of Nappanee, passed away on October 2, 2020. Matthew’s infectious smile, witty humor and undeniable knowledge of all things sports, along with his love for his family and friends will be missed by everyone that was fortunate enough to know him. He felt the sun and moon rise and set with his beautiful daughters. Matthew was born in Bremen, Indiana. He graduated from Northwood High School in 2003 and joined the Air Force that same year. He served his country that he loved for 16 years, including 5 combat tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. He worked as a government civilian employee with the Department of the Air Force’s 17th Special Tactics Squadron serving as the Deployment Manager, Security Manager and Custodial Manager on Fort Benning, Georgia. Matthew is survived by his Grandfather James A. Brown, Grandmother Irene Unsicker, Mother Cynthia Tatich, Father Max (Brenda) Unsicker and Stepfather Thomas (Tamra) Tatich, Wife Jessica Unsicker, Daughters Jade Unsicker and Addalyn Unsicker. His Brothers Jason (Andrea) Unsicker and Payne Tatich, and sister, Mika (Brandon) Stutzman. Many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins as well as his brothers and sisters that he served with. He was preceded in death by his Grandmother Ruth Brown, Grandfather James Unsicker, and Nephew Wesley Unsicker. Visitation will be held from 10:00-12:00, Friday, October 9, 2020 at Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 St Rd 331, Bremen. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 pm, Friday, at Bremen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requested memorial contributions to be made to the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary/VFW Auxiliary, 1750 W. Plymouth St., Bremen, IN 46506.
