Michael Luttman

August 22, 1943 — December 10, 2020

Mike Luttman, Husband, Dad, “Gee-pa”, “Uncle Mike” and Friend to many, passed away on the evening of December 10th due to complications of the Covid-19 virus. Mike was born on August 22nd, 1943 in Garrett, Indiana to Howard and Gaytha Luttman. He graduated from Avilla High Schools in 1962. He was an accomplished high school athlete and his love of all things sports continued throughout his life. He was looking forward to watching the Notre Dame Fighting Irish play for the National Football Championship this year. After graduating from High School, he joined the Army and was stationed in Germany when he met Ursula Fabinger and on August 20th of 1965, he made her his Bride and brought her back to the United States. Their 55 years of marriage is one for the ages. “Mike and Urs” settled in between Nappanee and Bremen, Indiana and have two children, Carrie (John) Utterback in Columbus, Indiana and Monika who lives at home. He retired from RBC in 2008. He is survived by Ursula, Carrie and Monika, brothers Harold and Phillip, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents, sister, Ann and brother Dave. He voted early and was ecstatic when Joe Biden was elected President. A lifelong UAW man, he was a voracious reader. He loved reading books about history, sports and biographies. His encyclopedic knowledge of Indiana basketball was epic and he never forgave the IHSAA for implementing class basketball. He loved politics and had very strong political views, which he freely shared. He loved being a Grandpa. His grandkids, Katie, Jennifer and Daniel, brought him a joy that they will always carry with them. Per Mike’s wishes, there will not be a funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Camp Millhouse, a wonderful camp for people with special needs that Monika has attended for decades. http://www.campmillhouse.org/donate-now.html
