Peggy J. Senter

June 5, 1934 — April 13, 2025

Peggy Jean Senter, 90, of Zionsville, IN (formerly of Bremen, IN), passed away unexpectedly at 6:32 PM, Sunday, April 13, 2025, at St. Vincent/Ascension in Indianapolis. Peggy was born June 5, 1934, in Plainfield, Indiana to the late Herchel Dean and Eva (McNabb) Zigler. She is survived by daughters: Sheryl (Mark) Matters of St. Joseph, MN and Rebecca Doyle of Zionsville, IN; grandchildren: Hal Hackett (Olivia Bonilla Diaz), Francile Hackett, Louis Hackett and Patrick Hackett; and a brother: Russell Dean Zigler of Cloverdale, IN. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Louis D. Senter, and a son-in-law, Timothy Doyle. After graduating from Quincy High School, Peggy started working at Public Service of Indiana in Plainfield. She then enrolled at Indiana University, but after one semester she determined college was not for her. She then began working at USF&G (Foster and Messick) in Indianapolis in 1953. She eventually met her husband, Louis, at USF&G and they married in 1961. She became a full-time homemaker with the birth of their first daughter in 1963. They eventually moved to Bremen, IN, where Peggy continued to live until last year when she moved into assisted living in Zionsville. Peggy was a meticulous and organized homemaker, disciplined at whatever job was at hand. She was an avid bird watcher, and she also loved to garden and preserve all sorts of foods and create many and varied landscaping arrangements. She taught herself to sew when she was young and loved to make clothes for her girls. Selecting fabrics and clothing patterns was always part of our trips to the city. She had the ability to sing and harmonize along with playing the piano for lifelong enjoyment. Peggy and Louis were founding members of Grace Fellowship Church in Bremen and she served as the church pianist for several years. Later in life she developed a love for genealogy research when studying genealogies was not popular or easy. She spent countless hours researching all branches of our family tree and she discovered a way for us to see the past generations of our lives. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 St Rd 331, Bremen. Pastor Jon Hueni officiating. Private burial will take place in Bremen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Grace Fellowship Church, 535 S. Birkey St., Bremen, IN 46506.
