Richard Alan Coffel, 78, of Bremen, passed away at 8:47 am, Saturday, February 22, 2025 in Elkhart General Hospital with his sons by his side. Richard was born on April 30, 1946 in Mishawaka, the son of the late Raymond and Evelyn (Siefer) Coffel. He married Linda Grysiewicz on September 1, 1967. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Linda; two sons: Rob (Missi) Coffel of Bremen and Ron (Stephanie) Coffel of Saginaw, MI; five grandchildren: Tyler, Andrew, Erin, Nathan and Izzy and four great grandchildren: Weston, Whitney, Cade and Parker. He is also survived by two brothers: Edward (Linda) Coffel and Alan (Tammy) Coffel, both of Bremen. Dick was a graduate of Madison High School. He spent his next 42 years paving asphalt roads for Rieth-Riley Construction. He was an avid fisherman and Lund Boat lover. As much as he loved fishing, he mostly enjoyed the part where he took his sons and grandsons fishing. Beyond fishing, he loved gardening and maintaining a perfect lawn and garden. Most importantly, for the past 45 years, he has been at our mom’s side while they watched, cheered and supported ever single football game, wrestling match, basketball, baseball and softball games and volleyball and soccer matches to support their sons and grandchildren. Had Richard’s health been better, there is no doubt that they would still be sitting together, cheering at their current and future grandchildren’s events. There will be a time to visit with the family from 3:00-5:30 pm on Thursday, February 27, 2025 in Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 St Rd 331, Bremen. A prayer service will begin at 5:30 pm in the funeral home. His ashes will be buried in Bremen Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to: Bremen Parks Department, 111 S. Center St., Bremen, IN 46506.
