Richard "Dick" H Kares

Richard “Dick” Kares, 79, of Bremen passed away Thursday, December 7, 2023, at his home. Dick was born in Bremen on October 22, 1944, to the late Horace “Shorty” and Maxine (Kline) Kares. On January 19, 1979, he married the love of his life, Ardith (Anderson) Kares, who preceded him in death on June 19, 2015. He is survived by his three daughters, Traci (Jay) Stoneburner of Bremen, Sherry (Tom) Chang of Bremen, and Melody (Jim) Kiefer of Elk Rapids, MI. He was also blessed with five granddaughters, Deidre (Chris) Kamrath, Chelsey (Adam) Schmenk, Meredith (Josh) Stidham, Libby Chang and Jaymi (Reid) Zellmer and five great grandchildren, Vivian, Heidi, Holden, Everett and Adeline whom he loved so very much. Family was everything to him and he treasured every minute spent together. He also loved his antiques and made many lifelong friendships through his hobby.  One of his favorite things was to be at Ted’s Auction Center for the Monday night auctions, where he could be found surrounded by some of his best friends. He was also a regular at the local coffee shop and the VFW, where he enjoyed sharing a meal with the guys. He was an avid IU basketball fan and loved to follow Bremen Lion athletics, especially when one of his granddaughters was playing. We will all miss him terribly but find comfort in knowing that he and Ardith are together again in eternity. Visitation will be held from 2:00-6:00 pm, Sunday, December 10, 2023 in Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 St Rd 331, Bremen.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, December 11, 2023 in the funeral home with one hour of visitation prior.  Pastor Chuck Krieg will officiate.  Burial will follow in Bremen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to Bremen High School Athletics, 511 W.
