Ricky L. “Rick” Hardy, 77, formerly of Bremen, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at his home. Rick was born in Bremen on March 14, 1947 to the late Leland Cecil Hardy and Marjorie (Geyer) Hardy. On April 30, 1971, he married Cherryl L. (Bussanmas) Hardy, who preceded him in death on January 1, 2007. He is survived by his daughters, Margo Hardy of Mishawaka and Traci (Jay) Stoneburner of Bremen. He was also blessed with five grandchildren, Breann (Austin) Langdon, Tyler Felten, Bailey (Caleb) Walter, Aydan Aukerman and Jaymi (Reid) Zellmer, and four great grandchildren, Sadie, Will, Jayce and Josiah. Rick was one of five children and is also survived by his brothers Mike (Kay) Hardy, Robin (Sue Ann) Hardy, his sister, Babette (Tim) LaFree and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Bruce (Sheila) Hardy, sister-in-law Lori Hardy, nephew Bruce (Janice) Hardy, Jr and two great nephews. Rick was a Vietnam veteran who proudly served his country in the U S Army. After being honorably discharged, he went to work for Nipsco where he worked until his retirement in 2002. He was a member of the Bremen VFW Post 8972, where he also proudly served as commander several times. Rick liked to spend his days at the lake, gardening and generally just being outside and enjoying nature. We will surely miss his quick wit and funny stories that he so often told to anyone willing to listen. He will be missed terribly by all who loved him, but find comfort that he is finally at peace and he and mom are together again. Visitation will be held from 11:00-1:00 pm, Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 St Rd 331, Bremen. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm, Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Bremen Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Marshall County 4-H, 112 W.
