Ricky A.
Sumpter
Jun 27, 1961 — Jun 18, 2026
Ricky Alan Sumpter, 64, of Bremen, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of his devoted wife, children, family, and dear friends.
Ricky was born on June 27, 1961, in Knox, Indiana, to the late Douglas and Mary (Ketchum) Sumpter. On May 28, 1983, he married his 8th-grade crush, Linda Weldy. Together, they shared 43 beautiful years of marriage, building a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
They welcomed their son, Ricky II, in 1986 in Bremen, where they made their home and raised their family. In July of 1996, Alyssa joined their family, completing their circle and bringing even more joy into their lives.
Rick was a proud and devoted father who found great happiness in supporting his son throughout his school sports and achievements. He attended Grace Fellowship, where his presence and warm spirit were deeply valued. Known for his ornery charm and quick sense of humor, Rick had a special gift for making others smile and feel at ease. He touched the lives of many with his kindness, humor, and genuine heart.
Ricky is lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda; his children, Ricky (Ashley) Sumpter II and Alyssa (Ricky Weber) Damron, both of Bremen; and his eight treasured grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable pride and joy. He is also survived by his siblings: Peggy Earnest, Linda Craig, Roger Dickson, and Katrina Ervin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Mary Sumpter.
A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 St. Rd. 331, Bremen. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Bremen Cemetery.
Ricky will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the legacy he leaves behind in the hearts of those who knew him.
