Sonya K. Hoskins

April 17, 1942 — September 10, 2025

Sonya Kay Hoskins, 83, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, surrounded by family in the comfort of her home. Born on April 17, 1942, to Woodrow Wilson and Devota Von (Hoffer) Schramm in Warsaw, Indiana, Sonya was a woman of quiet strength and unwavering integrity. She possessed a deep love for her family, friends, community, and her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ.

A proud 1960 graduate of Bremen High School, Sonya had a lifelong dedication to education, sportsmanship, and service evidenced in part by her long service as a high school swim official. She attended Ball State University, where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority, building friendships and values that shaped the rest of her life. She was a devoted and active member of Warsaw Tri Kappa. Her commitment to her community was profound and it radiated through her every action.

To know her is to love her, and how could you not. Sonya believed a house is just a house but a home is made up of the people and love and memories you put in it. Her home on the lake was a haven where memories were made, stories were shared, and laughter abounded. She had the ability to make everyone feel welcomed, loved and valued. Her cheerleading background carried throughout her life as she was everyone's greatest cheerleader. Because with Sonya, when it came to her family and friends, there was never an occasion too small that would keep her from celebrating.

For the last 31 years, she was faithfully partnered with the love of her life, Kirk Zuber, whose companionship brought her joy, comfort, a shared faith, and a sense of purpose.

She is survived by her brother, Charles (Barbara) Schramm; her sister, Brenda Mishler; her son, Kyle (Patti) Hoskins; and her adored grandchildren—Justin Schreiber, Peyton Hoskins, and Brady Hoskins—each of whom brought light and laughter to her life as well as one great grandchild, Aria Schreiber. She also survived by an estranged daughter, Melinda Hoskins.

She was dearly loved and always will be. Though we grieve her absence, we give thanks for her life. She made this world warmer, kinder, and more beautiful. And we know, without a doubt, she is home now, wrapped in the arms of her Savior she so dearly loved.

Memorial contributions in Sonya’s honor may be made to the Woodies Scholarship Fund or Salvation Army Warsaw, both organizations reflect her values and lifelong commitment to helping others.
