Sue Ellen Stanley

We are sad to announce the passing of Sue Ellen Stanley of South Bend, Indiana. Sue’s life began March 12th, 1937. She passed away September 6th, 2023 at Beacon Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Sue was born in Plymouth, Indiana to Ralph and Jeanette Reese.  The family soon moved to Bremen, IN and she graduated from Bremen High School in 1955. Sue met her husband Vern A. Stanley while they worked at Associates in South Bend.  They were married September 28th, 1963. Together they raised three good sons, Robert, Vern, and Ralph. Sue enjoyed music and the many trips she and her husband made to Branson, MO.  She loved gathering with family and friends to enjoy good food. Sue was a long-time employee of Kmart, and retired in 1991. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jim Reese.  Sue is survived by husband of 59 years, her three sons, two wonderful grandchildren (Luke and Jake Stanley), niece Kelly Reese, nephew, Blake Reese, and three sister-in-laws. In keeping with Sue’s wishes, a graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Bremen Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice.
