Virgil H. Hess

November 12, 1925 — April 21, 2017

Virgil Henry Hess, 91, of Bremen, passed away at 10:36 am, Friday, April 21, 2017 in the Community Hospital of Bremen.  Virgil was born on November 12, 1925, the son of the late David and Pearl (Wise) Hess.  On September 4, 1947, he married Rosella Affeld. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Rose; two children, Robert (Marcia) Hess of Munster, IN and Cindy (Chris) Luth of Montrose, CO; four grandchildren, Jeff (Seunghae Hae) Yoo-Hess, Bryan Hess, Casey Luth, and Cody Luth and a great granddaughter, Callin Luth.  He is also survived by a sister, Verna (John) Hellman of Michigan.  He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Bonnie Fulkerson and two brothers, Warren and Hartzel Hess. Virgil proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946.  He was a member of the Bremen Conservation Club. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 pm, Wednesday, April 26, 2017 in Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 St. Rd. 331, Bremen.  Funeral services will follow at 4:00 pm, Wednesday in the funeral home.   As per Virgil’s wishes, cremation will follow with burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Bremen United Methodist Church, 302 Plymouth St., Bremen, IN 46506.
