Wayne Edward Bose, 74, of Lake of the Woods, Bremen, passed away from his earthly life to be with his savior, our Lord Jesus Christ. Wayne passed away at the Spreger Rehabilitation facility in Mishawaka on Saturday, October 21, 2017, a few months after suffering a debilitating stroke. Wayne was born on January 1, 1943, in Chicago, IL to Dolores I and Henry R. Bose. He was the youngest of three sons, Wayne was raised in Chicago and moved to the Lake of the Woods with his parents following the completion of his high school graduation. Wayne obtained his Bachelor’s degree from Bethel College and began his teaching career at Christ the King Elementary School in South Bend. Wayne loved working with children and his role as an educator and mentor. Subsequently, Wayne and his parents moved to Austin, TX and began teaching at St. Ignatius, a very large elementary school on the south side of Austin. At St. Ignatius, Wayne ultimately became the Principal for a number of years. Then Wayne purchased a home on the Lake of the Woods, which he used to escape from the intense heat in Austin. He returned to live in Bremen and finished his professional career at Bremen Elementary School. Wayne was a pet lover and his dogs were part of the family. He was very fond of Boxers. He loved collegiate sports and was an avid Notre Dame football and basketball fan. He attended many Notre Dame football home games. Living on this lake, he also enjoyed swimming and boating and he had an extensive perennial flower garden. Wayne is survived by his brother, Henry R. Bose, Jr. of Austin; two nieces, Julie Bose and Debra Mitchell, both of Crete, IL; nephew, Brad Bose of Hollywood, CA and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and eldest brother, George W. Bose. Wayne was a long standing member of the Notre Dame Parrish in South Bend. Visitation will be held from 2:00-6:00 pm, Sunday, November 5, 2017 in Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 St. Rd. 331, Bremen. A Requiem Mass at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at Notre Dame will be conducted at 9:30 am, Monday, November 6, 2017. Father Peter Rocca, C.S.C. will celebrate the Mass. Interment will follow at Bremen Cemetery.
