Willard "Bill" D. Leeper

December 7, 1932 — July 26, 2025

Willard “Bill” Leeper, 92, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025. Born on December 7, 1932, to Delbert and Juanita (Potter) Leeper, Bill lived a full and meaningful life defined by service, hard work, and deep devotion to his family.

Bill proudly served in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956, including a Mediterranean tour that remained one of his fondest memories. After his military service, he followed in his father Delbert’s footsteps and built a lifelong career as a union cement mason. Working alongside his father, Bill helped shape many landmarks across the Michiana region, including several major projects at the University of Notre Dame and University Park Mall.

Bill was one of six siblings. He is survived by his sisters: Sandy Anderson (Phil) and Gail Teghtmeyer, both of Bremen, IN. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Joann Schwartz, Merle Leeper, and Sue Snyder, as well as by his parents and his stepmother: Gerrie Leeper.

He is survived by his children: sons, Aron Leeper (Kimberly), Bremen and Rodney Leeper, Marshville, NC and daughter, Shana Leeper (wife Shannon), Three Rivers, MI. He is also survived by step-sons: Tim Heckaman, Mishawaka, IN and Troy Heckaman (Rhonda), Bremen. Bill was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather to many, and a beloved uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his former wife: Sally (Farrer) Smith, Bremen.

He will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering work ethic, and the love he shared with his family. His contributions, both in service to his country and in the buildings he helped create, will not be forgotten.

Small private graveside services with military honors will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: VFW Post 8972 in Bremen or the LaPaz American Legion Post 385, in Bill’s honor
