William Edward Sherk, 91, of Bremen, was born to Paul and Edna (Balsley) Sherk on January 17, 1931. He married the love of his life Dorothy Marie McGowen on September 15,1951. Together they raised Debra J. (James) Buchtel, William “Skip” E. (Nancy) Sherk, and Michael P. (Tammie) Sherk. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, in 2009, sons, Skip in 2021, and Michael in 1997. He loved to go camping with his family taking them to the Seattle World’s Fair in 1962 camping from Indiana to Seattle, WA and back, visiting National and State Parks along the way. Above all else he loved his family. Not only the family he created, but also his mom, dad, stepmother (Violet Sherk Jones), his brothers (Paul, Jr (“Tub”), Ron, and Les, and sisters (Shirley Stine, Geneva Abbiehl, and Maxine Balsley), aunts, uncles and cousins. He loved collecting and restoring antique gas engines and took his wife, children, and later his grandchildren, camping at various antique gas engine shows. He is survived by his daughter, two daughters-in-law, grandchildren, (April and Marc Buchtel, Troy (Lizziey) and Alison Sherk), and great grandchildren; Calvin and Finn Sherk, one on the way in December, Allen, Hailey, Malachi, Clare, Klowey, Aaden, and Paytyn Bronson. Visitation will be held from 11:00-1:00 pm, Thursday, July 21, 2022 in Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 St Rd 331, Bremen. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm, Thursday, with burial to follow in Bremen Cemetery. Rev. Chuck Krieg will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Community Hospital of Bremen, 1020 High Rd., Bremen, IN 46506.
