Crist E. Helmuth, Jr.

Crist Edward “Ed” Helmuth, Jr., 84, of Bremen, passed away at 11:15 am, Wednesday, November 20, 2024 in Memorial Hospital of South Bend.  Ed was born on November 1, 1940 in Elkhart Co. to the late Crist E., Sr. and Wilma (Yoder) Helmuth.  On September 3, 1971, he married Connie Faurote. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Connie; five sisters: Frieda Lehman, Erma (Melvin) Schmucker, Laura Stutzman, Mary Lou (Merlin) Mullet and Martha (Ray) Whetstone; two brothers: Merle (Nora) Helmuth and Floyd (Rose) Helmuth; brother in law: Allen (Vicki) Neher; nephew: Matt (Jen) Neher; niece: Shayne Prosser; sister in law: Jan Helmuth, Martha (Maynard) Kurtz and Jan Helmuth; great nieces and nephews: Caitlyn (Damon) Myers, Delainey Neher, Kyle (Mickayla) Neher, Logan (Aleena) Prosser and Ciera (Matt) Prosser.  He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Eli, Homer, LaMar and Don Helmuth; brother in law, Willis Lehman; nephew in law, Steve Prosser and great niece in law, Kaysee Neher. Ed was a member of Shiloh Wesleyan Church.  He retired from Elkhart Products after 23 years in Shipping and Warehouse Packaging. Ed was inducted in the Goshen Fastpitch Hall of Fame in 1996.  He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, mushroom hunter, golfer and fisherman. Visitation will be held from 2:00-8:00 pm, Sunday, November 24, 2024 in Mishler Funeral Home, 2030 St Rd 331, Bremen.  Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am, Monday, November 25, 2024 in the funeral home with one hour of visitation prior.  Rev. Ed Friberg will officiate.  Burial will follow in Bremen Cemetery. Memorial contributions in his memorial may be made to Shiloh Wesleyan Church, 105323 4b Road, Plymouth, IN 46563.
